Red Rocks Maternity Photos

I am fairly new to living in Denver and it has been a dream of mine to shoot at the iconic Red Rocks, and I finally had the opportunity in October 2024. We headed up to the foothills for a later afternoon shoot about an hour and a half before sunset. I was worried that the sun would be too bright, but we were tucked back in the red rocks which allowed for some beautiful lighting for the photos. This maternity photo shoot was an absolute dream!

We found the perfect spot not too far from the amphitheater that had a small parking area and provided so many amazing backdrops. It was also easy to access for an 8-month pregnant Mama to be. Initially, I was worried there would be too many people or hikers around, but it worked out, and we were able to have what felt like our own private stunning nature scape for this special shoot. To find this spot, you will drive through the adorable town of Morrison and drive into Red Rocks entrance 3. From there, you will drive up Ship Rock Road and then veer to the right on Red Rocks Park Road and park in the little dirt lot on the side of the road. You can access the Trading Post trail on both sides of the road and find so many beautiful spots to shoot.

It would be so beautiful to shoot up here in the snow as well. I can totally picture some amazing senior portraits, head shots or family photos, too. I am getting the itch to shoot here again, so please reach out, and let’s make magic happen!
